In These Ordinary Days is my online journal in this changing world.

This site is where I write essays, poetry, and reflections about the things I find myself thinking about: meaning, spirituality, nature, culture, grief, creativity, and our relationship with the living world. My hope is that we will emerge from this time with greater compassion, wisdom, and a deeper relationship with the earth and all beings.

My perspective has been shaped by years of advocacy for animals and the earth, by spiritual inquiry, by loss, and maybe also just by having lived long enough to watch the world change in ways I could not once have imagined.

I don't write as an authority figure or as someone with answers. I write as a person paying attention and trying to understand, like everyone else.

I also write fiction and occasionally share thoughts from my work in progress, a historical young adult novel set in the nineteenth-century American Southwest.
